Welcome! I've been an AYSO soccer coach and referee since 2000. I'm currently an AYSO Advanced Coach Trainer (I used to be the coach administrator for Region 64 then Area 2J then Section 2 which covered northern California, most of Nevada, and all of Oregon, Washington, and Alaska). Along the way I've created and accumulated some useful tools for soccer coaches which you are free to take and pass on (subject to any license terms that may appear within the documents/tools).

Coach's Game Card 3.9.6 (For U8 and above)

This is a tool to help U8-U19 AYSO coaches stay positive during games, manage their team more easily, keep notes on their players, and track how much time players spend in each position during a season. Prints out Official Lineup Forms to give to referees and maps of fields showing player positions. This coaching tool directly supports AYSO's philosophies (particularly Everyone Plays and Positive Coaching) as well as the approach taken by the Positive Coaching Alliance.

New! Version 3.9.6 allows 22 players per team (previous versions allowed only 18). Plus misc other minor enhancements.

AYSO Soccer Team Kickoff Meeting Agenda (For all coaches)

Having a kickoff meeting for parents and players before the first team training is essential to make sure everyone gets off on the right foot for a soccer season. It allows the coach to set the ground rules and is guaranteed to save every coach much grief later in the season.

This is the AYSO Soccer Team Kickoff Meeting Agenda I use and you may download it and modify as you need. It is based on AYSO and Positive Coaching Alliance philosophies and approaches. Within the MS Word document, the portions in blue are the ones that you must update fit your team situation. The rest you may change to suit your situation.

Domination Points (For U8 and above)

Domination points is a technique to track behaviors coaches want to encourage (like clears, crosses, thru balls, give & go's, shots, steals, etc). It is very simple and works well to improve players. Plus it is a great way to keep spectators (particularly ones that shout too much) productively occupied. While I authored this particular document, I am not the original creator of this methodology and don't know who is. It has been passed around among many coaches.
